The World Reimagined Global Trail, Reading University (Updated)

On New Year’s Day this year, we went over to the university to check out the globes that had been installed to create an art trail on the campus. This was part of a wider national campaign called The World Reimagined which had globes all over the country. You can read about this initial visit here.

As I was on the bus passing through the campus a couple of weeks ago, I noticed that there were two more globes. Initially, I wasn’t sure if these were two new ones or if a couple of the existing ones had been moved to new, more prominent positions. After a bit of investigation I found out that they were indeed new so this week I went along to see them.

The first one is right by the main entrance to the campus and is very visible from the road and second is just a little further inside, in front of the business school. I don’t know but perhaps these more obvious positions are to encourage more people to visit.

Both are very similar to the existing four in that they are painted in bright, bold, colours and are very striking. Here are the two new globes:

Now there are six of the globes it has made a very nice trail inside what is already a very attractive and green campus. You could walk from the entrance through to the furthest globe at Park House and then finish with a walk through the lovely Harris Gardens.
