Spain 2026 – Day One – At Sea

The days at sea on a cruise are always very lazy days with little to do. This year I’d decided that to counter that I’d take part in a couple of activities that were likely to be running based on past trips.

Behind the Scenes

We’ve been on a number of cruises before where they have offered behind the scenes tours including a trip to the bridge. Last year I didn’t realise that it was on offer and was disappointed that I’d missed it.

Unlike last year the tour this year was much better advertised with posters up in a number of places in the ship including at the entrance when you boarded. Clearly they didn’t want people to miss out.

What was also in evidence this year was the price – £85 per person😱 I was horrified. How could they justify that price for a guided tour of the behind the scenes? We were a captive audience of course, and had limited options.

Even so at £85 that was a hard pass from me which was a shame but it just wasn’t worth that to me.

A Trip to the Flicks

On board there is a small cinema with three screens showing (relatively) recent films. Watching a film would be another way of filling a couple of hours. They were showing Wuthering Heights which I hadn’t seen when it came out as I was a bit ambivalent about it but I love Emerald Fennell’s previous films so thought that this would be worth a watch.

It was being shown five times but the only time that really worked was 3 PM so 20 minutes before hand we wandered down to go in only to find that it was completely full already😱I was horrified. Not really but it was a bit disappointing.

So no behind the scenes tour and no film meant lots of additional time to kill!
